Itinerary

Day 1

Upon arrival at Kotoka International Airport, you will be met by a CombGhana liaison officer who will assist you with your transfer from the airport to your hotel for check in and orientation session. Overnight at a hotel. Dinner included.

Day 2

After breakfast, take a city tour. Learn about Ghana’s history and country’s first president who helped lead Ghana to independence. Visit the W.E.B Du Bois center for pan African culture, visit the independence square and Kwame Nkrumah memorial park. End the day’s tour at Makola a vibrant open market in the capital city of Ghana. Overnight dinner included.

Day 3

Checkout of hotel. Depart to the domestic airport for a morning flight to Tamale. Upon arrival, you will be met by a CombGhana liaison representative and a chauffeur who will drive you to your hotel for check in. depart on a drive to Salaga. Meet with the traditional leader and tour the site where slave trade started in the Gold Coast now Ghana. As a traditional ritual, Participants feet will be washed to symbolize humility and seeking forgiveness and participate in a naming ceremony, laying wreaths and sharing traditional healing feast that includes the sharing of food between the descendants of slave raiders and the slaves who were captured.

Day 4

Meet at breakfast and share information about the experiences you are having on the tour. Take a tour to The Red Clay studio to explore dynamic art works.

Visit shea butter production site to experience how shea butter is made from scratch by using traditional methods like cracking, roasting, grinding and kneading before it is refined and exported globally. Drive back to the hotel in tamale for overnight stay and dinner.

Day 5

Checkout of your hotel and depart for a drive to Kumasi. Visit the Kintampo waterfalls to experience change in atmosphere created by nature. Afterwards, continue to Kumasi. Upon arrival you will have lunch and check in to your hotel room to freshen up and relax.

Day 6

take a visit to the Manhyia Palace Museum to obtain first-hand information on the legacies of the Ashanti kingdom. You will have the opportunity to buy hand-picked souvenirs at the national cultural center. Depart to Assin Manso Slave River and memorial site where our captured slaves were taken to have their bath before their final departure to the Americas. Afterwards, you will continue to Elmina where you will be checked in to your hotel. Overnight stay includes dinner.

Day 7

After breakfast, enjoy the day at leisure at the beautiful beach resort in your hotel. Overnight stay including dinner.

Day 8

take a drive to Elmina castle and walk through the dungeons and historic door of no return in Cape Coast Castle where slave trade was once central to the slave era. Cape Coast Castle is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and was one of the departure points for Africans during Trans-Atlantic Slave trade. Take an adventure tour to Kakum National Park, a tropical rainforest expanding over 360sq k, 1,000 foot long made with seven-bridge walkway over 150 feet above the ground. Discover variety of exotic floral species and animals. Enjoy the night with live band music, and dinner.

Day 9

Return to Accra early in the morning. Lunch arrangement in a restaurant can be made for those who care for it at their own cost. There will be complimentary airport shuttle to the airport for check in and departure.
